by George Eliot (Mary Anne Evans)
Middlemarch examines life in the imaginary central England town of Middlemarch. Through its inhabitants, George Eliot, the pen name of Mary Anne Evans, examines a grand array of important issues: politics, religion, education, the place of women, marriage, and who knows what else.
For the project, I will read an electronic copy of Middlemarch. At my standard font size, the book is 800 pages, making it one of the longest books in the entire project.
